QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Who staffs the tour?

Europe Family Journey is led by a professional Jewish educator/guide who escorts the tour on a 24/7 basis. Our program leader is joined by expert local guides in most cities, many of whom are part of their local Jewish communities.

Is this trip right for me?

Europe Family Journey is a multigenerational Jewish travel experience. For families traveling with children, given the nature of the itinerary, the tour is most appropriate for ages 12+. Touring days are active and full. Travelers should feel comfortable with lots of walking, including on uneven surfaces (e.g., cobblestones), standing for long periods, and generally being on their feet for most of the day. This trip is not wheelchair or walker accessible.

How is this a Jewish experience?

Europe Family Journey is a pluralistic Jewish travel experience open to all. Group meals are kosher or vegetarian, and all touring on Shabbat is by foot. The program is unaffiliated with any specific approach to Judaism. Travelers arrive with varying degrees of Jewish affiliation, and non-Jewish family members and friends are welcomed. Our goal is to provide a rich European travel experience, covering Jewish and world heritage touring.

How much of a group experience is this?

Our goal for the program is to create a sense of community among individual travelers – with travelers gaining lasting new friendships and a richer experience as a result. There are ample opportunities for personal exploration, and many dinners are intentionally left free. In particular, Saturdays are designed to be less structured, and no programming is mandatory on any day.

How are special dietary needs accommodated?

Be sure to note any special dietary considerations as part of your registration. We will coordinate with our hotel and restaurant partners to arrange special arrangements as needed. We make a good-faith effort to accommodate food allergy considerations; however, we can not make guarantees on behalf of our meal-providing partners.

How many people travel in the group?

We host no more than 30 travelers per group.

Can I start or end the tour on a date not shown as a route option?

Special requests may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.

How all-inclusive is the experience?

The program covers all touring, private transportation, all meals listed as included, hotel accommodations including porterage, and an educational staff team. You’ll be responsible for your connecting travel for the start/end of the program, any meals not included, gratuities (suggested at $100 per traveler), and travel insurance, should you wish to obtain it.

How do I get ready for the trip?

Detailed pre-trip materials are distributed 3-4 months before arrival. You'll also be invited to a trip Facebook group to connect with fellow travelers before the program and stay in touch afterward.
